raise the turn [/ QUOTE ] What are we trying to accomplish with a turn raise? We'll still get called by bigger Aces most times because the board is so raggedy and drawy. Surf |

Re: 10/20 :blind defense part 3 - A2s
Raising the turn on a semi-bluff seems reasonable, but it's scary to do it against an all-county player. I would usually wimp out and call down like you, or might raise the flop and bet the turn, with the desired effect of making him fold.

[/ QUOTE ] Raising the flop is going to be interpreted as a draw often enough for better Aces to call down, and paired hands to 3bet us IMO. Our best chance to fold him is on the turn, but I don't know how good a chance that actually is. Surf |

He doesnt know what you have, for all he knows you could have the nut straight.
Raising the flop usually means a small pair that needs protection and sometimes a draw. It doesnt mean he will calldown. |

[ QUOTE ]
raise the turn [/ QUOTE ] Is this raise correct because the villain is a solid player or would it be correct against most opponents? Which factors would make it correct against some and incorrect against others? I typically just call down here and call a non-king river unimproved because I figure I will never make a better hand fold, I will sometimes make a hand worse than mine fold that would have bet the river, and I will often get 3-bet when I am beaten. Re: 10/20 :blind defense part 3 - A2s
How about a 3bet pf?
I agree that raising the turn is prob pointless, no Ace high is folding on this board. Folding the river is a possibility imo now that we can only really beat Q high or lower. |
