AKs can be annoying.
Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (9 handed) converter
BB is 25/20/1.5. MP is new to table. Just a checkup. Should hero bet the turn looking to drive out BB? To get to a free showdown unimproved because fold equity = zero? Help me understand what I should be thinking in this hand. Preflop: Hero is CO with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. 4 folds, MP3 calls, Hero raises, 2 folds, BB 3-bets, MP3 calls, Hero caps, BB calls, MP3 calls. Flop: (12.33 SB) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) BB bets, MP3 calls, Hero raises, BB calls, MP3 calls. Turn: (9.16 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) BB checks, MP3 checks, Hero checks. Now that hero checked the turn, what to do on the river? River: (9.16 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) BB checks, MP3 bets... This post feels lame. |

Re: AKs can be annoying.
That's a pretty bad flop raise.

Re: AKs can be annoying.
i like raising flops to take control of the hand, but usually with some bd possibilities for a free card and to buy outs if I have a questionable kicker or less than top pair with top kicker(and about a hundred of other scenarios i won't get into, but you get my drift). if you raise the flop, bet the turn to get mid pair or such a chance to fold. checking the turn lets everyone knows you have an unimproved AK on the river, you are kind of at their mercy. FTOP baby, FTOP. fold.

Re: AKs can be annoying.
So lemme get this straight - you have a preflop raiser and re-raiser who leads out the betting. You have no draws other than your two overcards - and you RAISE?

Re: AKs can be annoying.
That flop looks terrible, but that pales in comparison to calling on the river.

That's a pretty bad flop raise. [/ QUOTE ] We're just getting enough odds to call the flop if we give ourself 3 outs for the overcards. So I say peel. Reasonable? |

Re: AKs can be annoying.
Damn it!
People not to stop automatically raising the flop with overcards! You don't have any kinds of backdoor opportunities here and with the flush draw and the multiway pot you are very unlikely to win this hand uncontested before the river. If you are raising the flop and the pot stays three-handed please at least be somewhat consistent and check the turn. The BB three-bet out of position pre-flop and then led a raggedy flop. A hand like JJ or QQ is very possible, and they're folding here like never. |

Re: AKs can be annoying.
Looks like you should probably call the flop and turn, folding the river unimproved. I don't think he's betting AK after you capped him.

Re: AKs can be annoying.
Thanks for the replies. Looking through the session history I had missed several flops leading into this hand.
I think this is an example of how I tilt. My preflop play remains unchanged. I tilt by trying to force my way to winning a hand. I see clearly that I was lucky to get a free turn card. And hero folded the river. |
