Blind Structure - 6-Max Shootout Tourney
I'm gonna throw a 6-max shootout tournament for 36 players and would like each phase to last 2~3 hours. Here's my structure.
6 players @ 100 chips 30 minute rounds Round 1: 1-2 Round 2: 2-4 Round 3: 3-6 Round 4: 5-10 Round 5: 5-10 - 1 ante Round 6: 8-16 - 2 ante Round 7: 10-20 - 3 ante Round 8: 15-30 - 4 ante Round 9: 20-40 - 5 ante I'm hoping everyone will bust out by round 5 or 6. Look good? Any suggestions? |

if you haven't checked out http://www.homepokertourney.com/blinds_samples.htm you should
Seems like the blinds won't increase rapidly enough to force the game forward to meet your timeframe. The recommended starting chips is usually 50 times the starting big blind. The big blind should be equal to the starting stack at the time you're hoping to finish the tourney. In between that you just want to increase evenly and gradually. Since you want 30 minute levels, then the blind increases would normally be larger. The good thing about your structure is that it will give plenty of time to find good hands before committing a lot of chips, so skill will be more of a factor. My guess is that you could last even to the 9th round if you have very stubborn and cautious players. Then again everyone could go all in on the first hand (AQ vs. AA vs. KK vs. KK vs. QQ vs. 72) who knows, lol. Another good resource for testing blinds is a video game called DD Tournament Poker. You can setup the tournament structure then play it against very realistic computer opponents. It calculates hand times fairly well so that you can get a good idea if your setup works well. good luck and have fun |

Re: Blind Structure - 6-Max Shootout Tourney
Not bad, but it is slow (as mentioned).
If I may make a suggestion... 15 minute levels 1/2 2/4 4/8 6/12 6/12 (1) 8/16 (2) 10/20 (3) 15/30 (5) 20/40 (5) 30/60 (10) 40/80 (10) 60/120 (20) Or, if 15 minutes is too fast for you: 20 minute levels 2/4 4/8 6/12 6/12 (1) 10/20 (2) 15/30 (3) 20/40 (5) 30/60 (10) 50/100 (15) |
