Commerce 3/6
EP is a lady who is terrible. Calls to the river then folds frequently, and I've only seen her raise with close to the nuts. MP is a quiet guy who plays good hands but doesn't know what he's doing postflop. He 3-bet once with what he claimed to be QQ. He folded on the turn after an A77 flop and would have spiked a Q for a full house on the river. Someone had A7 to win, and he thought he still would have lost the hand. My read was that MP's raise preflop meant a big ace or a big pair. UTG calls, EP calls, MP raises, folds, Private Joker folds, I'm on the button with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. I say, "This is horrible" and make the call. Private Joker looks at my hand. Blinds surprisingly fold, limpers call. Flop: (9.5 SB) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players) UTG checks, EP checks, MP bets, I raise, UTG folds, EP cold-calls, MP calls. Turn: (7.75 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) EP checks, MP checks, I bet, EP folds, MP folds. After the hand, Private Joker says, "I play it the same." I say, "Me too, except for preflop." He says, "Whatever, ten-nine suited is a great hand." -blumpkin |

I like everything about it aside from the fact that it was played live.

Is that preflop coldcall standard? Is it because you figured the blinds were coming along too, to help pad the pot?

No it's not. I would only cold call here if UTG was an aggressive preflop raiser, and the cold callers called light, and the blinds are loose. It's almost never correct to cold call a marginal hand like this with the bettor on your right.
Edit: Didn't you notice OP's comment about the PF call being "terrible"? You [censored] troll. |

Bad preflop calls are fun, just trying to understand your postflop line.
Im assuming the flop raise is a standard positional free card play against weak opponents. I really like the turn bet, its the perfect scare card for you to bet because it improves your draws. You stand enough chance to pick up the pot right there and it gives you enough outs that you aren't concerned if your called. Is the logic right behind your line?
