How on earth can any sane person make this call on the turn unless they knew what was coming on the river?
Also, yes, I know my river call was not exactly smart. Arrrrrggggghhhh!!!! Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 6 handed) BB ($87) UTG ($265.75) MP ($165.19) CO ($331.93) Hero ($197) SB ($174) Preflop: Hero is Button with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $1. UTG calls $2, MP calls $2, CO calls $2, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $6</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, BB calls $4, UTG calls $4, MP calls $4, CO calls $4. Flop: ($31) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(5 players)</font> BB checks, UTG checks, MP checks, CO checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $16</font>, BB calls $16, UTG folds, MP folds, CO calls $16. Turn: ($79) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font> BB checks, CO checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $75</font>, BB folds, CO calls $75. River: ($229) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font> <font color="#CC3333">CO bets $50</font>, Hero calls $50. Final Pot: $329 Results in white below: <font color="#FFFFFF"> CO has 6s 9s (straight, ten high). Hero has Jc Ac (one pair, aces). Outcome: CO wins $329. </font> |

raise more preflop, bet more on the flop

preflop raise ought to be more along the lines of $12 if you're going to raise it and try to play for pair value. otherwise limp in and hit something good...
i'd bet $25 on the flop, $50 on the turn |

Not saying it is a good call, but he probably just thought you were bluffing, were on a flush draw, or was going to try steal the pot if a scare card hit. He made a bad play, but I have seen worse. All the above are way more likely than him cheating. If you really don't trust the integrity of on-line poker don't play because it will be too easy to make excuses for losing play instead of fixing why you are really losing. In this particular case you got sucked out on, mark this player down as a fish and try to play a lot of poker with him.

You have to call that river with the size of the pot.

Of course you're going to get people criticizing your play of the hand but I'm sensing that nots what you're looking for. The answer to your question, what I can tell you are looking for, and what is undoubtably true is "Because they are bad at poker."

he had 9 outs, same as a flush draw.
and he figured if a heart hit, he can bluff you off it. turn is bad call but its not the worst I've seen. |
