A troublesome AKs hand
My opponent in this hand is somewhat loose and quite passive preflop, and postflop.
I'm pretty sure my flop bet here will have a long term positive expectation, but i want to know what you guys think about the hand. i'd like to get better with playing my big draws, and there is no place better to ask than here. Re: A troublesome AKs hand
This guy called an $11 raise preflop...i'd be real worried right about then. If I don't take this down preflop, i'm treading very carefully if I don't flop top pair top kicker at least. You have to determine your fold equity here on the flop bet to determine if it's got a long term positive EV or not. You get 2 shots at 9 outs, up to maybe 15 outs if all your king and ace outs are good, which I think they likely aren't. I'm wondering if you got trapped here by KK or AA. I would agree that you are maybe +ev long term here but I think it's close. You might consider check calling a small bet, or maybe firing off a blocking bet on the flop and turn trying to hit a pair or a flush. On that flop, a pair of pocket 2's has you beat...gotta remember that about AK.

Re: A troublesome AKs hand
RiverTheNuts,
There are 4 people in the hand with a flush draw on board. Hero is betting here with anything from top pair to set. A check says "I give up." It is very unlikely for a thinking player to put hero on a monster here with flush draw on board. Moreover, these are not thinking players, so we probably don't even need to worry about that. There's also no reason to assume button will bet into 3 opponents on a complete steal unless he is completely maniacal. This flop is a must bet, you are playing for your whole stack here and you are loving it. Well played. |

Re: A troublesome AKs hand
i would have made a slightly small bet on the flop. $40 would serve the same purpose as $55.
you can't fold that on the turn. i'd have probably pushed to begin with. since you can't fold, give him the chance to... |
