Really funny conversation about poker
I had a conversation earlier with a friend of mine I play poker with. I was laughing so hard I was almost in tears, I had to share his views. I'll admit, I was kind of just baiting him along after a while, it was just too funny. And no, I am not making this up.
Me: what do you like better, when there is lots of raising preflop, or when people limp most hands? Friend: limp I think Friend: you? Me: raising. why do you like limping? Friend: it's more random with bigger raises Friend: I want it to be about skill and reading people Friend: not the randomness of what comes Me: interesting Me: is that why you usually call preflop? Friend: I don't usually call Me: why not then? Friend: why don't I usually call? Friend: it depends on the bet size for whether I call, but I tend to fold most hands Me: yeah, if you like limping preflop, doesn't it make sense to call Friend: oh, yeah... more often Friend: but our pots will be big later Friend: I'd rather lose my money to something where I have some knowledge Me: what do you mean? Friend: where it's a skill... read the person and your cards Friend: if I'm putting money in pre-flop I'd tossing it away randomly Friend: less of the game is skill Me: interesting Friend: you don't agree? Me: eh, we obviously have different views of poker Friend: how so? Friend: what's your view? Me: just more odds than yours Friend: I am talking about odds Friend: but if you're playing odds and have a choice of the odds after flop or before you know a LOT more after the flop Friend: the odds are worse for everyone pre-flop Friend: not everyone Friend: I mean.... yeah, you can't know as much Friend: you can't ever have good odds Me: weird Friend: ? Friend: what you know about a 5 card hand is a LOT more than what you know about 2 cards Me: ok Friend: is that not making sense yet? Me: it's an interesting way to play Friend: way to play? Friend: that's not a method of play Me: an interesting way of thinking then? Friend: it's a fact Friend: not really a way of thinking Friend: you know more with 5 cards than 2 Friend: the game has less risk at that point |

[ QUOTE ]
Me: what do you like better, when there is lots of raising preflop, or when people limp most hands? Friend: limp I think Friend: you? Me: raising. [/ QUOTE ] Your friend is right on this one. Both of you are rather incoherent in the rest of the conversation. So, it appears your friend is more knowledgeable than you. |

Re: Really funny conversation about poker
I read this thinking it would be funny - but I have no idea what either one of you were talking about.
