Quick Problem
30/60. Laggy player raise in the hijack. You call in the bb w/ KQc.
Flop comes 9-7-3. You check and fold? This hand feels stupid. What do I do differently? I can't give a good range of hands this player would raise from here as I didn't have stats on him, but KQ certainly has some of them beat. This guy plays pretty well post flop. |

Re: Quick Problem
How would you play Q9 on this flop or 76 or A3? Does opponent have any clue about how you might play those?

Re: Quick Problem
ok well f--- the whole "you should have reraised preflop HEHE" thing, if you play it your way preflop you need to ask yourself: if I check call the flop whats the chance he checks the turn? Against a "good postflop player" probably zero. So why bother? Check fold the flop unless you feel like playing back at him. On this nothing flop chances are good that ace high will "give you action" i.e. showdown unless your image is real rocky. Is it, or are you 8 tabling?

Re: Quick Problem
I'm 6 tabling. And getting rocked doing it. The games would probably break if I left. And there are sixty people on the waiting list. So my image is probably somewhere between fishy and sucky. Right where it should be.
I just talked thought of the right play for my image. Check call. Check call. Bet out . YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

[/ QUOTE ] 4.5:1 on the flop call. floating one oop doesn't help if the guy doesn't play poorly. you'll probably have a hard time taking him off of A high if the board blanks. you're 6 outs will likely be good and you have a bd nut straight draw but it really depends on the opponent here. how does he respond to a C'R here. i oftentimes would call a HJ open raise with something like K9s & c'r this flop or top pair flops or draw flops. if he's seen you do this only w/ top pair i think this is a pretty clear c'r bet turn and take it down there. but if you have no stats on him and he none on you you should probably have taken the lead preflop. i like 3 betting here preflop actually vs. a lag. ESPECIALLY since you have a surprising # of his hands in a lot of trouble here. -Barron |

Re: Quick Problem
Yeah, I 3-bet preflop. Players of his description are particularly good to do this against, they become much more likely to just fold later.

Re: Quick Problem
3-betting makes the flop much easier to play.
