My Nemesis - AJo
If I folded AJo every time it had been dealt to me since I started playing 15/30, my winrate would be 0.5 BB/100 higher.

Re: My Nemesis - AJo
ok, let me elaborate.
1. I have the best hand and I want to get more money in the pot. 2. If I raise and SB calls two bets cold, I can probably assume he is either on a flush draw or he has the 6 and play accordingly. Therefore, I am also raising to gain information. |

Re: My Nemesis - AJo
I agree you have the *probable* best hand. I think raising is a good way to win the least or lose the most.

You're saying just call down here, no raises? Good point about win least/lose most.
Thanks for the responses. |

why raise the flop? [/ QUOTE ] Forgetting what is seen on the turn, the flop raise is a good play. You say "why raise the flop"... but based on the board it's clearly the correct play. Look at the baord. UTG+1 limped in pre-flop so if he has an Ace, it's weak. Are you going to just "call" the flop with top pair and a decent kicker? The only way a post-flop raise would be bad here is if you put UTG+1 on trips with the boarded pair, and you can't make that read of his post-flop play. |

Re: My Nemesis - AJo
When he comes out betting on the turn, I would call. Many times, he will be betting a worse ace just because he thinks you raised for the free card on the flop. But I think 3-betting now means he can beat top pair so you can fold here. I don't think he is 3-betting with AT A8 or less (the only things you beat).
If he seems like a reasonable player, he's got 3 9's, A9 or A6 or maybe 76-s... If you call the turn, it might encourage him to bet his worse ace again on the river and you could know you were beat for the same price as raising and folding to a 3-bet on the turn. |
