Party 15/30
Somewhat unusual table as it was passive PF as well as loose. I have 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in the BB 2 MP limpers, weak almost any 2 will do, button limps, SB folds, and I check. Flop is 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] I bet, 1 MP and button calls. Turn is 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] I check, MP checks, button bets, we both call. River is 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I bet, MP folds, button calls. So is it worth potentially giving a free card vs. encouraging extra calls here? |

Have to bet that turn IMO. Once you did pass, why did you smooth call the button's bet? What makes you not want to checkraise this thing?

I would say no. Bet turn and river for value. Any club is gonna beat you if one falls on river, so make money while you can. The turn could of easily been checked through. It's possible they would have both folded to a turn bet, but I'd say that is better then the turn being checked through since your flush is fairly terrible.

Betting the turn is better and havinng not bet the turn you missed a great chance to check raise.

I'm with Steve. Why let somebody with, say, the 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] draw to beat you for one bet?

Not betting the turn is bad. Not raising the turn after checking is worse. I don't like it and I don't get it.

Checking the turn is suicide, bet.

Hi Barry,
I'm not fond of the turn check. You've represented a made hand that is nervous about the flush, and you will encourage weaker made hands to check behind you. I experimented with this exact play early in my poker career and found the results to be poor. Admittedly, the game I was playing at the time was probably very passive. Good luck. Eric |
