Default Yesterday!!!

.. I was walking down the street here in Nha Trang Viet Nam, when I saw a police truck that was taking illegal roadside food stalls down, putting them in the back of the truck and carting them off.

Question:

Government is Fascist?
Government keeps civic order?

Comments invited.

Why don't you write a letter to the editor of the local newspaper?

People need food - take me for example. How can taking away a necessity be in any way "keeping civic order?" Who exactly are we protecting - the local guy with the station right down the road?

That leads me to believe that the role of the government when it acts against an individual or group depends on the interpretation by the government and the police of actual facts and the laws around the issue.

So, to pick up on the online gambling thread regulation of gambling is clearly a possible function of the government depending on how the government interprets its civic reponsibilities. Not withstanding the degenerate (and non-degenerate) gamblers on this forum.
