Default Re: My adventures in No-Limit

That's tough. I have quite a NL story that went the other way for me. Not a brag post but just a look at what TV has done to lots of casino poker games...

I played 5-10 at the Taj and made around 250 during the day and decided to go check out showboats new poker room. No 5-10 or even 3-6 going, just 2-4 LHE and 1-2 NLHE. I figure what the hell theres no list for the NL game I'll just hang out there for a while so I buy in for 300 bucks.

After about two orbits I'm flat out laughing as some guy was raising pots up to 40 or 50 bucks preflop. Finally after winning about 200 bucks off other players I picked up AA. He raised it to 50 dollars. I minreraised him and and he called. On the flop I picked up a set of aces on a rainbow, non straight draw board, he bets 50 and I smooth call. (He had about 250 left). On the turn he bets 50 more and I raise 75 on a still completely unthreatening board. He makes a comment about being "pot committed" and calls. On the river he checks I push. He calls and turns over A6 and hands over the rest of his chips. It was actually a good score for me sitting in that NL game and it really made me think about what a joke televised poker tourneys have turned low stakes NL into. I also realized it can be a feeding frenzy, even if you just sit and nut hoard for a while.

Good luck,
Matt
