make her something. chicks get wet over stuff like that. It also spares you the "in between friend and GF" drama of what to get her, because you dont have to worry about spending too much, or not enough. If shes the materialistic whore type that doesnt appreciate that kinda thing, then dump her ass, and save yourself having to spend $$$ on her, and find a better girl to date.
