Its picture quality is likely a lot worse than this (probably not 2.5K worth though). As far as being true HDTV, that is a vague term. I doubt you would notice the 200 pixels (1280*720) and there are almost zero (a couple of lcds and some wobbaling dlps) 1080 tvs. If you like the picture, it really isn't worth worrying about the exact technical details.
