There is a similar threat, tho perhaps not as nasty, in the rivers of texas. You are required by law to kill any and all of a certain species of carp (I believe the grass carp, not sure) caught in tx waters. They eat largemouth bass eggs, thus hurting the bass population. There are some laws worth following to the tee, and usually a state's fish and wildlife laws are very much worth reading up on and following. As much of a rebel as I have been during my life, I always follow fishing laws to the tee.
