Default Dumb Question: Dealing river twice

In a pot limit hold em game I go to the house has insurance available. The players can work something out betweeen themselves or the player in the lead can take the house insurance which is of course slanted against the best hand. In the few instances that I do make deals when in the lead I prefer just to deal the river twice rather than haggle trying to get a reasonable price. Is this ever a bad idea for the hand in the lead? Say against a 2 outer, or 14 outer? I had always heard and always intuitively thought it was a fair way to retain the correct odds and split your risk, but I heard some of the other players talking about how it wasn't a good idea in some situations, i think they were talking about being up against very few outs. To me it still seems accurate since if you dealt the river all the way through the deck you would have to end up with the correct result. Am I wrong here?
