Default Re: AQs OOP

A big advantage of betting the turn is that you may fold a small pocket pair. This really depends on your opponent and your image, but it is pretty hard to justify calling the turn with a small pocket once the jack hits. He's pretty much playing you for your actual hand and even then he's up against ten outs.

Betting also avoids giving a free card to a worse ace. For example, A8 has 3 outs to win and 10 more to chop. You'd really like to fold him out and at least he should be made to pay.

If the turn is raised you should call at 7.5-1 because you probably have the outs and you may also catch a hand like AT taking a free showdown. Checkfold the river unless you catch at least a queen.

If he just calls the turn you'll have to decide about the river after you see it. Usually I would checkcall but an ugly card like 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] probably means you should give up. You should also probably checkfold instead of calling for half the pot if your queen gets vanquished.
