Dealer school isn't necessary, but it sure helps if you don't know any dealers that can sit down with you and show you what needs to be done in a casino. It's a bit different that dealing home games...

This way of doing it is becoming more and more common. The traditional way of getting a dealing job is to go talk to the poker room manager adn get an audition. If you do well in the audition they will send you to HR to fill out papaer work.

It really varies by casino, I hear more and more of the corporate types forcing poker room mangers to not talk to anyone until they fill out an application, but I think the more common way is to still ask for an audition before applying.
