Default Re: Horrible mistake at WPT Foxwoods

I can empathize with him a bit. I made a misread in a big tourney although it didn't cost me my stack but it provided a moment for the rest of the players at the table trying to figure out the two donkeys playing the hand.

I raised from the button with A8o and the BB smooth called. The flop came 9,4,2 rainbow with a check, check. The turn was a J and again check, check. The river paired the board with a 9 and again check, check.

The BB flips up AA and I'm about to say NH and throw my cards into the muck but give them a second look before I do. I had A9 not A8 and sheepishly table my hand. The whole table first looks at the guy who never bet with AA and then at me who checked top pair on the flop and trips on the River.

I told the table I misread my hand while the other guy offered no explanation for his play but later told me he was trying to trap. Weird things happen at the tables.
