I check the turn here because its free. Also, even if you pair up you may be drawing dead. In fact , when a pair hits the flop, i often check the lead, but usually in 3 or more player hands.
I try to allow myself one bluff per hand. In this case, you want to "time that bluff", & get free cards where possible.
I lead much more often into an unpaired board.
