Turn: Check > Fold

I usually have the same problem, it's alot read dependent. Does he give up when faced a turn bet if he missed? Or is he in check/call mode because he connected a little? Or doesn't he give up at all, no matter what he has? Does he check/call with TP?
I always try to answer these questions in similar situations.

edit: the problem with turn check is that he might bet the river. If you bet the turn he might fold right away and the chance is higher that you get a free showdown. So you have to spend 1BB for SD with the extra chance of winning at the turn. If you bet the turn and he hits the river or bets it anyways, you're shafted so again, a bit read dependend.

Is my reasoning somewhat correct or am i off the line?
