I don't know the specific instance you are taking about, but if someone opens the pot for an amount larger than the minimum, many people consider that "coming in with/for a raise" where other nits say that the first bet into a pot is always a bet.

Ex. blinds 50/100, Chip comes in for 300, Annie makes in 900.

Some say chip bet three hundred and annie raised to 900, some say chip came in for a raise to 300 and annie reraised him to 900.

I don't really care. And there is no need to waste calories and brain cells on this. Poker has never been a game correct grammar, it is a game where some gets "beat" by someone who plays "bad".

Kinda like in NASCAR when they say a guy blew a "motor" when they really mean engine.
