Default Re: NYC Players - No Poker No Peace Protest

Legalizing gambling in NYC would not be a good thing for those of us that live near NYC and enjoy it. I like NYC. I don't like Atlantic City, except to go to and gamble at, it is a dive and when gambling was legalized there (20?) years ago, it certainly took a turn for the worse. Online gambling is one thing, I am all in favor of the US legalizing and then heavily regulating online gambling. But legalizing gambling in a city such as NY would cause all kinds of problems that the city doesn't need. IMO. Plus, I really think some of these people are going to get arrested, and this is goiing to be broken up almost immediately, just a warning. And while some would argue correctly that poker isn't "gambling" in the same sense that blackjack is, for the majority, upwards of 90 percent of people who play poker, it is gambling (A -EV game that can result in short-term profits but inevitably results in long term deficit), and having it legal in a big city such as NY would have the same effects as having a regular casino.
