What if the food is going to be ready in 3 minutes and someone pulls up a minute later?
It's simply easier for everyone involved to ask customers to pull up if their food is going to take longer than normal. In my experience I have never been negatively impacted by being asked pull up, so why worry about it?

The point is that there was no one behind me and that the drive-thru exit is only one lane. So I would have to get my food and leave before anyone that was not behind me could leave as well.
