Default Re: 1st hand Empire $100, TPTK

Why check the turn, and lose control of the pot?

[/ QUOTE ]

This made me scratch my head.

Let me see if I can figure out why you would check on the turn here...1) you think you have the best hand. 2) you don't think he will call a bet on the turn with his possible holdings. 3) you want to induce a value bet/bluff on the river from 99, TT, JJ, QJ, QK or similar holdings. 4) with most of his holdings he has 2 outs with a lower pair and only a K on the river would kill your TPTK.

So it looks like you checked the turn to get a bet on the river by making your hand look weaker. The only problem with the plan was his huge river bet and the flush hitting the board. It looks like you got what you wanted......call the bet. I certainly would not raise and committ more chips without a better read of what his bet means.

I still think a bet of 200-325 on the turn would make this much clearer.
