You would almost certainly not hurt your lifetime bottom line by simply never openlimping MP2 and later. Though there might be a few occassional situations where it's right, it is very, very rare and if you're doing it at all regularly you're doing it to much. There are plenty of solid, winning players who just never open-limp and it certainly works for them.
