This isn't even dumb if you play with a bunch of asses who win one big pot and then leave. I don't see where this is a bad thing at all.

No, and in fact, this is a pretty standard rule at a lot of home games, I think, including ones I play in. It's a good defense against the hit and run, and a simple courtesy to everyone else at the game. At a casino or online you can get away with this, but a friendly home game there's just no need.

I usually announce that I am leaving about 30 minutes in advance. Its not a house rule just common courtesy. Some people dont want to play short handed.
