in most american colleges/universities, an A is the best possible grade:
A = 4.0
A- = 3.67 (3.7)
B+ = 3.3
B = 3
and so on and so forth.
Depending on your school and it's grade inflation and your major and your zodiac sign, a GPA around 3.5 is either good or average.
