Default Re: Casinos near Niagara Falls

[ QUOTE ]
This "old casino" you guys are speaking of is within walking distance of Niagara Falls? What is it's real name? Thanks for the responses. They are helpful.

The "old casino" they're referring to, and that you're asking about, is called Casino Niagara, and as you said is literally within walking distance of the Falls, which is about the only reason one might prefer it over Fallsview. Fallsview (the newer one) is a nicer, more-Vegas-style place, with very, very fishy low-limit games. I've never played poker at Casino Niagara (they didn't have a poker room until recently, when the poker boom kinda forced them to add one), so I can't comment firsthand on the quality, or lack thereof, of the games there.

There's also an Indian casino on the American side...Seneca Niagara Casino, in what used to be the Niagara Falls Convention Center, with a bigger poker room that spreads more games than either of the Canadian places, although the level of competition tends to be higher than Fallsview. It's about the only reason to spend any time in Niagara Falls, NY, actually, since the rest of the town (on that side of the border) is a depressed (and depressing) dump. The Canadian side is much nicer, with plenty to do besides go to the casinos, especially in the spring and summer. Actually, Artpark on the American side is cool and has some good events, but that's actually located in Lewiston, NY, near the Queenston bridge (the one that connects directly to the QEW spur), not in the city of Niagara Falls.

As an aside, if you're into Indian food, one of the best Indian restaurants I've ever eaten at is located one block from Fallsview...don't remember the name or the street it's located on, but as you walk out the main entrance of Fallsview, it's located on the next street up the hill right in front of you, within view of the casino. Absolutely excellent food.
