it's a hell of a list
i can see the tone stuff. i couldn't find a problem with the film and i generally like those themes, but something just didn't click with me. i'm perfectly willing to admit the problem may be more mine than the film. it just wasn't sparking, i guess, and that's what i look for in these old noirs.
i'll probably watch it again before i do my summary of the first 20, to see if i respond differently
