Default Re: Welcome To The Politics Forum

Welcome to the Politics Forum.

A wide variety of political views are expressed and discussed on this forum.

Political discussions can be very interesting and informative--and at times may also become quite vigorous. Here are some guidelines which should make discussions better, as well as some specific rules which must be followed.

First, the Operating Policies of the Terms and Conditions of Use. These must be adhered to.

Operating Policies

The operating policies of 2+2 set forth the rules that govern your activity on the 2+2 website. While using 2+2 website, you may not post or transmit any unlawful, threatening, abusive, libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, profane, or otherwise objectionable information of any kind; including without limitation any transmissions constituting or encouraging conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise violate any local, state, national or international laws.

While you are free to post on the 2+2 website using an alias, you may not post pretending to be someone else.

2+2 and ConJelCo reserve the right to refuse to post or to remove any information or materials, in whole or in part, that, in its sole discretion, are unacceptable, undesirable, or in violation of this Agreement. Continued abuse will result in your being banned from posting on the 2+2 website.

All users are also encouraged to read the entire Terms and Conditions.

Another very important rule:

Don't circumvent the profanity filter or use misspellings to try and make your point.

Now, for some guidelines which will help make discussions better for everybody:

1) Don't engage in outright name-calling, or in making disparaging remarks or implications about other posters. Try to debate the issue rather than attacking the poster. For instance it's fine to state that someone's idea is ridiculous and to argue why you think it is ridiculous. Please however don't call that poster an idiot. Doing so is not conducive to good further discussion.

2) Try not to put words into the mouths of others or misquote them or misrepresent their positions. If you are unsure, it may be best to quote them exactly including any relevant context.

3) Don't merely troll or flame.

4) Content-rich posting is good, and provides much for discussion. It also helps you make your points far more effectively.

OK that's about it for now. Moderators have the latitude to edit or delete posts, as well as to warn or ban posters. While striving for leniency as a general rule, some conduct can and will result in banning (especially if warnings are ignored).

Our goal is to foster an open and civil environment for the discussion of politics on this forum. The Rules and Guidelines help with that so please do keep them in mind.

Happy Posting,

M
