Here's a suggestion for the hiding of the DVDs in the lid -- paper the box and the lid separately. After taping the DVDs to the inside of the lid, cover the entire lid (including the DVDs) with paper. She'll lift the lid off, toss it to the side, and look to see whatever junk you've put in the box.
