Default Re: If anyone cares...Chumash visit Thursday

I didn't think this warranted its own tread for a trip report, so I'll put it here. The Chumash was ok this afternoon. After finding our way there through the rocky mountian pass, we arrived around 4:30, an hour after we planned on getting there. The lines for all the games were long, however there were only a few tables open. I think some more could have been opened up as there were dealers and players milling around the area like cattle. So I signed up for the 2/4 game since my friend (relatively new to poker) wanted to try that and I felt I could donk it up. After somewhere close to 30 minutes, they open up a new table with the 7 other people who wanted to play 2/4 and couldn't get into the other one. Now 2/4 poker is considerably laggy anyways, but this was extreme. There was a man on one end who would literally call with any two pf, any high card above 8 post flop, and lots of hands to the river. Another next to him told us his strategy with "calling with any two suited cards, cause pocket pair are no goo in this game." Ah. The rest were your typical 40 year old men who had caught a bit of the WSOP while watching ESPN, so they were almost as bad.

Notable hands: My friend had been doing pretty well with the advice that I had given him, and he got burned on a board of Q57Q2 when his aces ran into the first lag's Q10. His worst beat, however came when he opened raised in MP1 with A's again (luckbox with starting hands, huh?). Only 3 callers, which was rare for this game. Board of 828, checked to him, he bets, gets called by one guy. river and turn don't matter, and the villain shows down 82o. Ouch. And this was a kill pot, 3/6.
I never flopped a set the entire night, my biggest money makers were random two pairs and one giant one with the nut flush. I limped with A7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] in MP3, and we saw a flop of A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]10 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Bet to me, I raise, 3 to the turn. 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Yada yada yada, i take down a large pot. I also gutshotted a king for a straight with about 7 people in another hand to take it down. Mmmmmmm...donkfest.

All in all I had fun, the food was also pretty good there, but the upstairs cafe was closed at 11:30? I ended up to 270 from 80, so that was nice. There was also a tourney going on that I was interested in 30 dollar entry with one rebuy. It was limit up until the final table, is that normal? Apparently aroudn 90 people entered, so it seems like a lot of fun.
