If you haven't been there before, there is not much in the area other than the casinos. The is an economy Inn in norwhich worth checking out. I can't remember the pricing but believe it was decent, one night all the rooms were booked and I ended up staying there.. Its about a 10 minute drive from Mohegan the part i have no clue about is cabs out there..
Foxwoods in 15 minutes away the rooms at 2 trees inn there are more reasonable then any of the rooms by either of the two casinos might check that out as an option too.
