If you don't raise preflop, you should raise the flop. If he's aggressive, he's betting lots of nothing hands on the flop when he limps in from SB. You don't mind taking down the pot immediately as your hand is vulnerable and you can't tell *WHEN* you're beat because he presumably has two mystery overcards to your 4.
