Fair enough. First off, I'm pretty sure the formula is only applicable when the blinds are small. In your example, the blinds are 50/100, most of the time your stack will be so small in relation to the pot that you'll just have to push.
Second, it depends on what your cards are. If you have AA, you might welcome a caller or two. So you should raise to whatever amount you think will get one caller. If you have AQ or something, you probably want to discourage action and just take the pot right there.
Third, don't believe everything you see on this forum. That is sure to get you into a lot of trouble.
