Not to go all elitist on you, because I still play relatively small limits, but the level of game makes a HUGE difference in the level of aggressive play you see at tables. I sit down at a .25 bb table, and I am usually the most aggressive player at the table with an AF of just below 2. At the $1 tables and up, the table is filled with more aggressive players.

You really have to adjust your level of aggression to the game you are in. That being said, as a whole, aggressive players tend to win a lot more according to my PT stats, BUT, quite often, when I look my stats after a losing session, I have played overly aggressive relative to my own normal stats-- in otherwords, I have pushed when I should not have.
