Default Re: Favorite table fabric

I have used polysuede
I highly recommend it for these reasons:

1 - much cheaper than professional billiard cloth
(obviously go for the pro stuff if you can afford it)
2 - easily available locally
3 - durable and washable

(especially polysuede used for outer clothing, as it can come in different weights)

the surface is a soft smooth feel to the touch
but not as soft as, say, velvet (too soft)
and not stretchy (good because it will last longer)

to answer your question:
no, it does not catch cards
cards glide nicely.
but, the fabric has enough friction
so the cards stop on the table.

mainly, don't buy a fabric that with alot of pile.
pile is when alot of the fabric stands up
against the main weave. Think of a carpet.
If you used a shaggy carpet it will pil alot
(pil is when it gets little balls all over).
It will also show the wear faster.
Compared to a smooth carpet that won't pil.

Now apply that analogy to fabric for card playing.
So don't use things like felt that will pil.

cheers,
