The kid probably just didn't know any better. People who play in a lot of home games don't realize that not everyone shows their hand at showdown. Your remark probably went way over his head so he went into defensive mode. Since you were across the table from him you probably should have just kept your mouth shut. If I was siiting next to the kid I would have tried to politely explain to him that what he did was bad ettiquette.
