using the equity of a hand vs a range in pokerstove has major problems because of domination and post flop play. imagine a player only raises with 99 through AA and with AK. 3 betting with AK even though it has a bunch of equity hot and cold has problems. the PPs below KK will fold on ace high boards and when you hit a K against AA or and A or K against a set you will lose a lot of money. the pocket pairs will rarely loose a lot of money.
