Obviously it depends more on if the acutal poker you are considering is +EV and appropriate for you roll, but the spirit of what you're trying to do is reasonable.
Now is a good time to take a shot (not a wild one, but an appropriate). If you lose, you owe less in '05 taxes, if you win, your roll is noticeably bigger.
