that's kind of weird too. what the hell is that all about?
even though it was limit I would think it shouldn't be too tough for the dealer to say "it's another $8 to call sir."
I played at Bellagio with the 2 drunkest and stupidest Australians ever who simply didn't know how to play and ALWAYS had zero clue how much they were supposed to put in (in a 4/8 limit game) but the dealers where there to help them out.
I would also be kind of concerned that the floor didn't seem to care about your situation...but i agree that a correct, but late, ruling was probably for the best here.
