Default Re: Anyone play at blackhawk?

Enjoy playing the lottery. The Friday Night $50 with re-buys is insane. Crazy wackos...I've been told it takes about $300 to be successful in this tourney.

I hate the Gilpin's tourney structures, they become all in fests quite quickly.

We should pick a night next weekend where the Colorado 2+2ers can meet at a casino (larger one) and commandeer a full table.

Actually, it's not that bad. You're allowed up to 8 rebuys, which sounds ridiculous, but in practice, it really doesn't work out that way. I've never seen anyone take more than 2 rebuys. I've only bought one total the three times I've played and I've made the final table each time. I've heard of a table or two going crazy with re-buys, but none of the ones I've been on have had more than 2 or 3 total rebuys. The best part is the fools who rebuy time after time when the blinds are up to something like 200/400. All they're doing is padding the prize pool, because by that time, you're going to be all-in the first hand you play with your 2000 chips. If you bust out at that point, it's time to just pick up and go home. Rebuying is just blowing another $50.

Let's face it. B&M tournaments are all going to be a crapshoot until you get into the bigger buy-ins. This one actually works out relatively well, because there ends up being a lot of chips in play (rebuys and 1000 chip bounties for each person knocked out) and you have a chance to get out ahead of the blinds a little bit. That said, I need to get out to some more of the other rooms' tourneys. I don't have the cash to be playing $200+ tourneys right now, but I'd like to hear your guys' suggestions for what you think is the best structured tournament in town for something more like a $50-$100 buy-in. I think some of the private tournaments are going to be the way to go. I've got to get into some of those.

I don't mean to come off as a schill for The Gilpin, because i do like Mountain High and CCS, but I'd actually recommend The Gilpin for any 2p2 get together as well (if we must play in a casino), as I know it would probably not be difficult at all to get them to put up a table for us. I do know, though, that there's another local poker group that meets at CCS. I don't remember when, though, since I have yet to be able to make it to one of the meet-ups. Unfortunately, I won't be able to do it any time in the next week and a half, as I'll be in L.A. Sunday through Friday and then my wife has family in town after that. Although, I will be up there a week from Sunday entertaining my grandmother-in-law. I'm not sure what time, though.
