Default Re: Dumbest home game rule ever?

I once played in a home-game where if you wanted to check-raise, you had to declare "check-raise" instead of just checking; otherwise it would be considered a string bet.

Thats friggin' hilarious dude. Kinda adds an entirely new set of psycological mind games to play.

Player 1 announces 'check-raise'
I bet
Player 1 raises - to my surprise
I announce that I'm happy he followed through on his promise, and I re-raise there and on every street

On flop/turn/river when he folds I show my 9 high.

Better yet:

Floppage: A 8 8
Villian: 'check-raise'
Hero: 'uh...check behind ya dude.'

Turn: 2
Villian: 'check-raise again'
Hero: 'uh....checking it again right back to ya'

River: 5
Villian: 'Might as well try again...check-raise'
Hero: 'Can I just muck now?'
Villian's friend:
'No - thats dubm. He hasn't bet anything this
whole hand. We all know you raised with that ace pre-flop, you should bet.'

Hero: 'Yeah.....'

<<Hero throws his cards in the muck pile.>>
<<Villian looks disguested and tables 89s.>>

Villian: 'how did you know I had a good hand?!?!?!?'

Hero: 'I don't know...but pass me an Oreo?'

Villain in this hand is my favorite thus far.
