Default Re: The Steelers should start Randle El at QB next week over Maddox

This is ridiculous. No one here has ever seen Randle El drop back and and read NFL defenses. There is probably a reason he was drafted as a WR and not a QB. Also, what makes you think Randle El could learn the progressions, run the huddle, and do any of the other game management tasks that a QB needs to do? The only way they could make that work would be to throw out the whole playbook and run plays geard toward him.

The Steeler's best option next week is to run plays designed to counter the blitz (like screens, counters, and misdirection tosses), punt when they have to (don't push it on 3rd and long), and win it with their defense.

That said, if they had a whole preseason to practice, I think it would be interesting to see how the Steelers could do with 3 RB's, Randle El at QB, and 2 TEs. Or a 2 RB one receiver set with Hines flanking. I think it might just be effective because NFL teams would not be used to playing against anything similar.
