Default Re: \"Official\" ESPN Coverage of WSOP Main Event: Final Table

Hand 49 - Scott Lazar has the button in seat 9, and Kondracki moves all in again for $1,510,000. Hachem, in the small blind, takes off his lightly-tinted sunglasses to rub his eyes, and then he rechecks his cards and scratches his head. Is he thinking about calling? No. He folds. But Andrew Black, wearing his sunglasses upside-down (Marcel Luske-style), asks for a count of Kondracki's chips. Kondracki is stone-faced, wearing dark sunglasses and sitting like a statue. Black makes the call.

Kondracki shows As-Qc, while Black has pocket eights (8s-8c). It's a race situation as the flop comes Ks-9c-5s, and Black retains the lead with the pair of eights. Kondracki needs to catch a queen, an ace, a runner-runner straight or a runner-runner flush to stay alive.

The turn card pairs the board with the 5h, and Kondracki needs a queen or an ace to stay alive.

The river card is the 6c, and Brad Kondracki is eliminated in eighth place, earning $1,150,000.

He receives a few handshakes before gathering his things from the final table. His friends, rather than being sad, celebrate his finish with their beers raised high, and they are literally singing his name, "Brad." It's a touching moment of support from those that know him best.
