My sister has one. She named it Sammy. She loves it.

Why are you firing the housekeeper?

[/ QUOTE ]

We're firing her because she was lazy and didn't do a good job. The final straw was when I came home from work a couple of weeks ago and found a note from her stating that she hadn't vacuumed because she couldn't figure out how to empty out our vacuum cleaner. It's not a complicated machine...there's a little lever you push down on that pops out a cylinder that contains all the dirt. I think she just didn't feel like vacuuming that day. I might have let it slide had she done some extra work to make up for the time she would have spent vacuuming, but I couldn't find anything that she might have done extra. Basically, she cleaned the kitchen, emptied out some wastebaskets, cleaned the washrooms, and went home. She was probably in and out in less than an hour. We were paying her $75 for 3-4 hours work every two weeks, so to leave after an hour was basically stealing from us.

On top of not vacuuming that week, she did a lousy job cleaning our floors, would "forget" to go down to the rec room in the basement to vacuum/empty out wastebaskets, and wouldn't move small pieces of furniture when she was vacuuming.

What are you going to do about dishes and laundry?

[/ QUOTE ]

We do our own dishes and laundry. All we wanted was for someone to come in and do a thorough job once every two weeks. She really blew it...we were paying her more than she deserved. She was a friend of a friend, though, so we were doing it partially as a favour.

For the cost of 4 or 5 visits from her, I can get a Roomba.
