Agreed, but those are generally small tourneys. I'd love to just be able to dump tens of thousands of points straight to the cause - I have no use for as many points as I build up. I'm sure any tourney they'd run wouldn't be for that many FPPs. And that way Stars wouldn't have to match the donation either (in an FPP tourney, they'd pay both the charity and the winners of the tournament). I dunno - I figured it couldn't hurt to pass along.
