Hmm, this is a very interesting line that I've rarely considered. The more I think about it, the more I like this idea. You're absolutely right about the downside risk, you'll get stacked if you're wrong anyway, so giving a free card to 7 outs is well worth the additional chips you win if he bluffs the turn.
I like the check behind. Obviously you fold to the turn bet if an A or J come, but what do you do under each of the following scenarios:
Blank falls and he checks.
Spade falls and he pushes.
For that matter, do you push in response to a turn bet if a blank falls or do you smooth call and try to gain additional chips by dodging the 7 outs on the river?
