Default Re: A question worthless enough for the general forum.

A few weeks ago I was playing 3/6 limit at a local casino. The board read: AKT66. At showdown a player with KT announces "two pair," two players with Ax both say "I have an ace." The dealer then pushes the pot to the player with KT. As the dealer rounds up the cards one of the players with an A in the hole says, "Wait, wasn't there a pair on the board?" The floor was called to the table, and we had to wait several minutes as the entire hand was reconstructed.

Yes, the dealer really screwed up. But the whole debacle could have been averted had one of the players with Ax in the hole simply announced, "I have aces up."

The term has vrtually no meaning at all. Everytime someone says it you have to look at the board to see if they have 2 pair or just 1pair with a pair on board.

Aren't you going to look at the board anyways? Do you never look at the board after a player flips over his hole cards and announces his hand? If I have a set and someone else announces a straight, I'm going to look at the board to make sure they have a straight.
